Our theme
Soaring
through
Adversity
Through establishing the Women’s Leadership Conference, we hope to:
-
strengthen the leadership perspectives of student leaders from the stories of women leaders who have adapted in times of adversity;
-
cultivate a supportive community through fostering partnerships between student leaders from different schools;
-
inspire student leaders to reflect on their current leadership experiences and the change they want to enact in the future, while positively responding to failure and learning from it, overcoming adversity in their leadership journeys.

By the end of the conference, delegates are to present their findings relevant to the industry of the case study they were assigned to, such as:

Challenges faced by leaders amidst adversity

Importance of women in leadership and how they have led through failure

Solutions to overcome the adversity faced by leaders, while evaluating them

The content for the above 3 aspects should be integrated with the 5 exemplary leadership practices

Ms Aw Kah Peng
Ms Aw Kah Peng is an outstanding leader, having taken up the role of Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore since January 2019. Prior to this position, she has had 22 years of experience in the public service sector, first at the Economic Development Board and later as a CEO and board director of the Singapore Tourism Board.
Outside of work, Ms Aw Kah Peng enjoys running marathons, and spending time in the kitchen. Being a Board member of the Singapore Repertory Theatre, she is also a strong supporter of the arts in Singapore.

At WLC, we have an array of sustained games to be conducted during the conference! Sustained games will be held as a segment of the discussion session that aims to make the session more interesting and engaging for participants. This includes more unconventional ways of discussion and/or being asked to react in an unexpected situation.
